Theatre mad theatre man
The driving force and passion behind Holberg Theatre is Niels Vandrefalk, who after his training at the Royal Danish Theatre, founded theatre group Banden and MØLLEN in Haderslev. For 25 years he travelled round the country with his one-man show ‘Vandrefalken’, a name he later took as his own when he founded the Holberg Theatre in 2004. In the summer of 2009, he published a novel about his many years in the world of theatre entitled "Teatergal" – en forestilling om teatrets magi – (“Mad about theatre” – a performance about the magic of theatre). The Holberg statue in front of the Royal Danish Theatre has been moved to Sorø with the Holberg Theatre. See for yourself:
The icon of the Holberg Theatre is Ludvig Holberg, and its goal is to “benefit, entertain and give master of comedy Holberg a stage in Sorø”. That is why in August 2009, Niels Vandrefalk "moved” the Holberg statue from its location outside the Royal Danish Theatre to Sorø Torv: Because Holberg should reside in same place as both his sarcophagus and his theatre!
